Book your flight to Japan
It’s best to reserve as early as possible. Japanese budget airlines offer particularly cheap fares if you book far in advance. Check various dates as well, as prices vary dramatically based on Japanese national holidays.
Budget travel tips
- If you live in a large city, contact a Japanese travel agency (such as the Japan Travel Center in London). They often have special deals, especially for young travelers.
- Avoid the following peak times:
– Golden Week (April 29th to May 5th)
– Obon holidays (around August 13th to 16th)
– Around New Years and Christmas
Domestic Flights
If you want to travel far domestically in Japan, for example from Tokyo to the Sapporo in the Hokkaido, budget airlines are the way to go. For shorter distances, for example from Tokyo to Osaka, buses are cheapest.
International Flights
If flying from Asia or Oceania, then the budget airlines below will be perfect. If traveling from outside these areas, its best to compare (see links below) and go for the cheapest option, of course!
