Chahan (Fried Rice)
Known as Japanese fried rice in the west, Chahan is a super simple and super cheap dish. Chahan usually contains pork, egg and some vegetables, and most restaurants have slightly different types of Chahan. It is often served in a discount set with Gyoza dumplings or Ramen.

Where can I buy it?
Almost all restaurants serving reasonable set menus and bento shops will have Chahan. These can be found inside and near train stations, so look out for pictures outside the restaurants. A popular ramen chain called Hidakaya (日高屋) is also a great place for Chahan, have a look for this:
