Tokyo Metro 24-hour Ticket and Tokyo Subway Ticket

If you want to do loads in central Tokyo all in one day, this pass is perfect. The Tokyo Metro Open Ticket provides unlimited travel on all Tokyo Metro lines. In addition, there is a new pass, the Tokyo Subway Ticket, that also includes use of the Toei Subway lines.

What does it cost?

Tokyo Metro 24-hour Ticket: Adults 600 yen, Children 300 yen

Tokyo Subway Ticket (foreign tourists only):  Adults 800 yen, Children 400 yen

When can I use it?

Anytime.

Is it worth it?

If you want to go to 3 or more places in one day, then you will start to save money on this ticket.  This is especially the case if you want to go from one side of Tokyo to another. Otherwise it’s best just to get individual tickets

What are the rules?

  • You cannot use this pass on JR trains (national rail) or private lines.
  • The Tokyo Subway Ticket is only available for people with Tourist Visas arriving.

Where can I buy it?

You can buy the Tokyo Metro 24-hour Ticket at the ticket machines or the ticket office of any Tokyo Metro station, for example in Shinjuku, Shibuya or Ueno.  You can only buy the cheaper versions at the airports and some select locations.

How do I use it?

Insert the ticket into the hole on the ticket gate, then take it out from the other side.
